  • To guide participants in how to shift current risk/deficit practices to a resilient/strength orientation;
  • Review the factors found in resilient youth and the protective factors that foster them;
  • Provide strategies and activities known to foster these factors in children and youth.

Training is done on the importance of cultural respect, and how to both gain it for yourself and how it is to other cultures.

June 7 – PST: Child and Adolescent Development

The workshop provides an overview of social, emotional and moral development from the womb through adolescence. Content includes: developmental concepts and stages; research of developmental theorists, basic roles and functions of the brain and effects of alcohol and tobacco on the adolescent brain; peaks of neural plasticity; developmental risks; and implications for prevention.
